Admission to Hester School of Dental Assisting is open to applicants 18 years of age or older and who:
Provide proof of a high school diploma, GED or its equivalency with certified transcripts.
Complete and sign an Application Form along with an essay.
Complete and sign a Student Enrollment Agreement.
Attend Orientation prior o EFDA Program start date. Receive, read and sign Student Handbook.
Fees not included in Tuition: FDLE Background Screening, ADAA Professional Member Dues, CPR Pro Certification, Radiography Certification and HIPAA / OSHA CEU's.
Provide from a doctor or The Health Department a General Health Statement/Physical with Immunization against and/or tested for Infectious Diseases, such as mumps, measles, rubella, Hepatitis B Tuberculosis prior to contact with patients and dental personnel. Student needs to have all shots with the Hepatitis Series started to start course DA 103 or cannot move forward in courses.
For Clinical hands-on experience the EFDA student will need 3 Prescriptions (RX): for Full Mouth Series, Panoramic and Cephlametric Radiographs for the student as a patient and two other patients to adhere to a policy on the use of ionizing radiation including criteria for patient selection, frequency of exposing radiographs on patients and retaking radiographs consistent with current accepted dental practice. HSDA will provide an initial exam by a Licensed Dentist for the Student as a Patient and for 2 more patients. It is mandatory for the student to be present and is required to have two patients for the Initial Exam at the Dentist's discretion.
A personal interview and tour is recommended and highly encouraged for the Admissions Procedure and Acceptance. Admissions and Financial Assistance is available from 8:30 amd to 5:00 pm.
DA 109 Externship is a Course commitment only with a minimum of 25 hours a week.
Volunteer hours and participation in promotion of the EFDA Program is mandatory for students enrolled in HESTER SCHOOL of Dental Assisting.
